Innovative traffic pricing can influence the transport demand, the use of certain transportation routes or the user behavior. This can make the usage of the total transport capacity more effective and improve the safety as well. The revenue can be returned back to the transport sector by investing in the transport infrastructure. Traficon has participated to the most significant European research projects and standardization work of electronic fee collection (EFC) and development for some 25 years. This has partially been done together and on behalf of Finnish road authorities.
